About RePhotoLab

RePhotoLab is a simple online tool for old photo restoration. Upload a faded, blurry or grainy picture and get a sharper, cleaner version in about a minute, right in your browser.

A Small Independent Project

RePhotoLab is built and run by a small independent team, not a large company. We started it because many people have boxes of family photos that are slowly fading, and most restoration tools are either expensive, complicated, or hide the download behind a paywall or charge per photo with confusing credit systems. We want something that anyone can use in a few clicks.

The Technology

RePhotoLab uses open-source face restoration and upscaling models that run on cloud GPUs. These models rebuild facial detail and increase image resolution. Files are stored temporarily in cloud storage and deleted automatically within 48 hours.

Honesty First

AI restoration can produce great results, but it has limits. It cannot recover parts of a photo that are missing, and it sometimes invents detail that was not in the original. We try to be clear about what the tool can and cannot do — including that AI colorization guesses colors rather than recovering the true ones — instead of overpromising.
