Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
Effective date: October 22, 2026 · Last updated: October 22, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy explains what you may and may not do with RePhotoLab's AI photo restoration Service. It forms part of our Terms of Service. If this AUP and the Terms conflict on content rules, this AUP controls for prohibited content and enforcement.
1. Prohibited Content Categories
You may not upload, generate, download, share, or attempt to create through the Service any content that falls into the categories below. This list is not exhaustive; we may block other harmful or illegal uses.
1.1 Pornography and NSFW sexual content
Pornography, explicit sexual content, fetish imagery, and other NSFW sexual material — including AI-enhanced or colorized versions of such material — are not allowed.
1.2 Child sexual exploitation and sexualization of minors
Any sexual or sexualized content involving anyone 17 or under (or who appears to be a minor), including fictional depictions, is strictly prohibited. We report confirmed child sexual exploitation material to relevant authorities as required by law.
1.3 Violence and gore
Graphic violence, gore, torture, or content that glorifies real-world harm to people or animals is not allowed, except limited historical documentary context that does not seek to promote violence.
1.4 Hate speech
Content that attacks, threatens, or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar protected characteristics is not allowed.
1.5 Non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII)
Non-consensual intimate imagery — including "revenge porn," deepfake intimate images, or restoring / enhancing intimate photos of a real person without their consent — is strictly prohibited.
1.6 Impersonation, fraud, and rights infringement
- Do not use restored or altered images to impersonate a real person in order to deceive, defraud, or harass.
- Do not upload photos you do not own or lack permission to process.
- Do not upload illegal content or content that infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights.
1.7 Security abuse
Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape without permission, reverse-engineer, or bypass rate limits, watermarks, or safety controls.
2. Content Moderation Mechanism
We use a layered approach to reduce prohibited use:
- Pre-generation / upload checks. Automated filters and heuristics may reject or flag uploads that appear to contain NSFW, CSAM indicators, extreme violence, or other prohibited signals before or during processing.
- Model and pipeline safety. Where available, we enable provider safety filters and refuse prompts or inputs that clearly request prohibited outputs.
- Human review. Flagged items, user reports, and payment-partner escalation cases may be reviewed by a human. Reviewers can confirm removal, restore a false positive, or escalate for account action.
- Logging for abuse response. We may retain limited technical logs (for example IP, account id, timestamps, and moderation decisions) as needed to investigate abuse, as described in our Privacy Policy. Uploaded photos and results remain subject to automatic deletion within 48 hours unless a longer hold is required for an active safety or legal investigation.
Automated systems are imperfect. Passing a filter does not mean content is allowed if it violates this AUP.
3. Reporting Mechanism
If you believe content processed through RePhotoLab violates this AUP, or if someone is misusing restored images, report it to:
- Email: hello@rephotolab.com with subject line AUP Abuse Report
- Include: the approximate date/time (timezone), the URL or order/session id if you have one, a description of the issue, and any screenshots or file hashes you can share legally.
Response commitment. We acknowledge abuse reports within 2 business days and aim to complete an initial review within 5 business days (sooner for child safety or imminent-harm reports). Complex cases may take longer; we will say so in our reply.
You may also use our contact page.
4. Violation Handling Mechanism
When we find a violation (or a credible report), we may take one or more of these steps:
- Content removal / block. Delete or refuse to process the upload and related outputs.
- Warning. Notify the user of the violation and required corrective behavior.
- Rate-limit or feature restriction. Temporarily reduce free or paid usage.
- Account suspension. Temporarily disable login, uploads, or downloads.
- Permanent ban. Terminate access for severe or repeated violations (especially CSAM, NCII, or clear illegal activity).
- Refund denial for abuse. Credits used for prohibited activity are not refundable.
- Legal escalation. Preserve evidence and report to payment partners, hosting providers, or law enforcement when required or appropriate.
Severe categories (child sexual exploitation, NCII, credible threats of violence) may skip warnings and go straight to suspension, ban, and reporting.
5. Intended Use
RePhotoLab is intended to restore and enhance legitimate personal, family, and historical photographs that you have the right to process — not to create sexual, violent, hateful, or non-consensual intimate imagery.
6. Changes
We may update this AUP. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
